Stirling City Stories
Charles Barnum (no relation to P. T. Barnum) was always being teased and bullied for his perceived circus roots (of which he had none). He was often forced to act as a clown (tumbling, juggling, getting hit with things, etc.) for the amusement of his private school companions. This early experience scarred the young Barnum and he ended up in and out of mental institutions for much of his early adult life. He sought solace in scientific studies, particularly mental/psychological treatments that can alter a person’s personality. He even managed to perfect a device that could have revolutionised mental health; but when he was to present his miraculous device, he came face to face with one of his childhood tormentors who couldn’t help but taunt poor Barnum. In that moment the Ringmaster was born, as he swore to use his device to make his tormentors into clowns for real.
He has perfected a method of transforming people into twisted, psychotic clowns. Twice he has unleashed his creations and twice the Stirling Heroes have stopped him.
